Tornado destroys Greensburg Church building

NEWTON, Kan.—A tornado destroyed the Greensburg (Kan.) Mennonite Church building and parsonage and leveled 90 percent of the structures of Greensburg, a town of 1,500, on the evening of May 4. The congregation is a member of Mennonite Church USA through its membership in South Central Conference.
The church building was built in the early 1970s. The congregation is celebrating its 75th anniversary in September. Jeffrey Blackburn is the pastor of the congregation, which has 81 members.
Mennonite Church USA Executive Leadership asks people to pray for this congregation as its members renew their congregational life and community ministry.
