Quilters (from left) Rebecca Sommers, Goshen, Ind., Chris Holland, Archbold, Ohio, and Brenda Hess, Goshen, stitch a “Global Coins” quilt at San José 2007. Created from more than 30 different fabrics representing areas around the world where Mennonite service and mission agencies work and have partners, the quilt was sold on eBay July 9 for $2,760. The proceeds go to First Mennonite Church, San Francisco, which is raising funds to purchase a house for its Mennonite Voluntary Service unit. More than 70 people helped with the quilting, while others received hundreds of swatches of fabrics and made about 200 global fabric bookmarks.
