Greensburg Mennonite celebration postponed

GREENSBURG, Kan.—Greensburg Mennonite Church has postponed its celebration to observe its 75th year of ministry.
Plans had been underway earlier to hold a commemorative observance on Sept. 2, inviting former members and attendees, former pastors and friends to mark this milestone date.
Plans for celebration changed dramatically on May 4, when an EF-5 tornado leveled most of Greensburg, including the church’s meeting place and parsonage.
Little was left of the physical properties. Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) and unaffected members of the congregation aided the clean-up effort.
MDS has set up a base camp on the church property to continue to assist with the effort. Volunteers will continue to be scheduled through MDS.
