$250 wheelchair, delivered

Meylin Leticia Matamoros was born with her left foot positioned near her hip. A Personal Energy Transportation (PET) wheelchair enables her to live a normal and productive life. Meylin lives near Mateo, Honduras, and received her wheelchair from Kirby and Chris Goering’s PET-Kansas factory in Moundridge, Kan. For $250 each, Kirby delivered 120 PETs to Honduras in the last year. Kirby and his wife, Chris, are members of Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge. They designed the PET for use by land-mine victims and people with disabilities in developing countries where normal wheelchairs are not usable because of road conditions.—Jeanne Jacoby Smith
