Give a gift to Jesus

Regarding Everett Thomas’ Dec. 4 editorial on suggestions for the Advent season (“We Can Do Better With Advent”). Instead of giving gifts to each other, as an extended family give a ‘gift to Jesus.’ That is what the wise men did. They didn’t give gifts to each other as we Westerners are doing. This year we plan to divide our ‘gift to Jesus’ to a missionary couple who is in need of support and to a poor mother in one of our congregations. We’ve been spiritually blessed by doing this.
