Peacemaking and Iran’s Ahmadinejad II
by Derek Yoder, Plainfield, Ill.I was surprised to read Seth Ramer’s letter regarding Mennonite Central Committee’s dialogue with President Ahmadinejad of Iran because my opinions reflect the opposite position. I applaud MCC’s courage in taking this risk, engaging in an unpopular conversation and believing that by allowing the Holy Spirit to work we can build bridges between ourselves and the people of Iran. Bridge-building is the work of the church. However, it was because of my surprise that I was reminded that we are not all in agreement. I will seek to understand Seth’s view, just as I believe we need to seek areas of understanding with Iranians.
