Younger generations want certainties
by P. Melville Nafziger, Lititz, Pa.Regarding “A Pastor Questions the Bible He Loves” by Tim J. Schultz (Nov. 20, 2007): I have read studies recently indicating the Mennonite church is aging. To me aging is a prerequisite to dying. Articles like this one may enhance the aging process as many of the younger generations want theological certainties rather than theological mush. They may look to other persuasions searching for certainties. There are those who believe that a number of the mainline denominations have suffered dramatic losses for similar reasons.
