Find home for Guantanamo prisoners
by Sanford Wyse, Archbold, Ohio
In a Jan. 8 Readers Say letter, Levi Miller reports that two-thirds of Mennonites voted for President Bush. BBC reported after the 2004 election that the Mennonites in Ohio ensured his election. Has anyone in our denomination considered helping Bush by giving place, shelter and homes to those prisoners in Guantanamo he has tried so hard to destroy? He has been trying to find a country for them but without success. This activity can demonstrate a foundation stone of what we have said Jesus taught about how we meet people others declare enemies.
In our distant past we knew what it was to be without a place. That piece of our DNA may have become unwound, as demonstrated by our votes.
