Louisiana family gives back to Akron Church

AKRON, Pa.—The Connor family—David, Vicky, Victoria and David Jr.—came from Cameron, La., to visit Akron Mennonite Church on June 13. AMC worked with Mennonite Disaster Service building a Partnership Home Program house for the Connors, whose trailer house was completely destroyed by Hurricane Rita. The house was built primarily on the parking lot of AMC, then dismantled, sent to Cameron and put up there. After their house was built, the Connors received $20,000 from the state of Louisiana. Rather than use it to furnish their house, the Connors donated $20,000 back to AMC to be used to build another house for someone in Cameron. “That’s y’all’s money,” David said.
