As of Aug. 1, 400 Mennonite Church USA congregations either have enrolled in The Corinthian Plan or indicated they are planning to enroll. According to Keith Harder, Executive Leadership staff member leading the enrollment process, 720 congregations are needed by Oct. 1 in order to meet the requirements for the plan to go forward on Jan. 1, 2010.

“We have not heard from approximately 400 congregations,” Harder said on Aug. 3, “and we really need to hear from them. Our ambassadors have told us that [the remaining] 125 congregations are unlikely to participate.”

The Corinthian Plan, a mutual aid program designed to provide health-care access for Mennonite Church USA ministers, is the Executive Board’s response to a 2007 mandate passed by the Delegate Assembly asking for such a denominational plan for ministers.
