We need a field trip
by Diana Hershberger, Goshen, Ind.
I read the Sept. 15 editorial regarding dialogue, and it spurred my thinking about a quote by Rumi that captures the true meaning of the word: "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there."
I love this quote. Our beliefs are just ideas, not the essence of who we are. Resonating from the 13th century, Rumi's words nudge us, as members of the whole Earth community, to embrace our differences.
