Provide profiles showing diversity
by Joel Miller, Cincinnati, OhioThe Mennonite could help lead the way in the discussion over sexuality by running a series of profiles that reflect the reality of diversity within and among our congregations on this issue. Profiles could be of those who feel they are firmly situated where they are in their approach to the issue—wherever that may be—as well as people who are unsure what to think. Profiles could be of pastors, congregations and members who have prayed, studied and thought hard about how the church relates to gay and lesbian people. Profiles could focus on people’s experiences and relationships, their understanding of Scripture and their particular setting.
