The search committee for the next director of Mennonite Church USA is making progress, having held three meetings so far. To date the committee has developed positive working relationships, adopted a checklist of steps to guide its process, issued a call to prayer, reviewed the compensation package, and developed a preliminary job description for testing and feedback across the church. A commitment has been made to provide discernment materials in both English and Spanish.
The committee is asking for comments and suggestions for the job description and is inviting the entire church to assist with the discernment process through prayer, feedback and suggesting persons who could provide dynamic and Spirit-filled leadership for the denomination. A form has been developed to guide individuals or groups to provide feedback to the committee.
To ensure broad conversation committee members are currently making phone contact with persons across the church. These include young adults and persons in the pew that are not in churchwide or conference leadership positions
A flexible timeline has been adopted, and the committee is working to move as quickly as possible while assuring adequate process and discernment. Although naming the new executive director by Columbus 2009 would be terrific, finding the right person for this position is top priority.
Committee chair Ed Diller said: “We are deeply appreciative of the support, prayers and counsel we have already been receiving from across the church. As the church prays and provides counsel, we are convinced that God will lead us to the person who will provide effective and faithful leadership for the church to thrive and flourish.”
Other committee members are: Glen Guyton, Charlotte Hardt, Sue Miller, Juanita Nunez, Dave Sutter, Dick Thomas, Patty Shelly, Keith Weaver and Sharon Waltner.

It's nice to know that the search committee invites counsel. How does one offer it? The article says: "A form has been developed to guide individuals or groups to provide feedback to the committee." Is it available upon request or does one have to wait to be approached by the committee? Is there an email address or on-line method via which we can use to request it?
