MCC has been a trusted source in Haiti, working alongside the poorest people in the
western hemisphere, for over 50 years. MCC is the relief, development and peace agency of the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ Churches. MCC is committed to meeting the long term needs of the Haitian people.
Sarah Bergin, Executive Director of the Care and Share Thrift Shoppes shares how the local
community is giving.
"I had the pleasure of personally meeting a number of persons making donations as they shared their confidence in MCC as a trusted partner in Haiti," says Bergen. "Several customers donated $500 or more, and one of them commented that, ‘I knew if I donated here, it would truly reach those that are suffering in Haiti!' Our Board and staff would like to thank our supporters from the bottom of our hearts for how generous they were with their giving. We are honored to be a part of such a special community!"
Donations, and up-to-date information, can be found online at MCC website: mcc.org
Bergin continues with the following challenge, "Customers should be confident in knowing
that shopping with us is a way to continue supporting all of those who MCC serves here in the
United States and in 52 countries around the world. Further, by shopping at the Ten Thousand Villages shop located in the same shopping center, items purchased here that are made in Haiti will create a need for jobs in Haiti over the long term. Any purchase made at any of these shoppes truly becomes your gift to the world."
The Care & Share Shoppes have been serving the local community for over 33 years. The
Shoppes are centrally located; 10 miles from Doylestown, 10 miles from Quakertown, and 8 miles from Lansdale. Local shoppers benefit from the availability of low cost, high quality items. Donors contribute to the recycling and conservation efforts that affect the broader community in positive ways.
Volunteers become part of a special community which embraces service above self, and the funds raised for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) provide resources and aid for those in need around the world.
