Contributor Guidelines
Contributions Welcome!
The pages of The Mennonite are open to freelance writers and photographers whose material is of interest to our readers. See our guidelines for submitting material below.
We also solicit the following from our readers: story ideas via email, and news tips and letters to the editor (Readers Say) via the Web site.
Writers' guidelines
Writing for The Mennonite should be concise, accessible to the general reader and with strong lead paragraphs. We are especially interested in personal stories of Mennonites exercising their faith. {learn more}
Poetry guidelines
The Mennonite looks for fresh, honest and creative poetry dealing with, at least tangentially, religious themes. Christian or Anabaptist thought need not be explicit in the poems. The Mennonite prefers poetry in a reflective voice, speaking of authentic human experience in the world and/or interaction with God. The best way to get a sense of the type of poetry we consider is to look at back issues of the magazine. {learn more}
Guidelines for freelance photographers
The Mennonite accepts submissions of freelance photography for possible publication. We accept high resolution electronic files of color photos. We can also accept sharp black and white prints. Most of our photos, however, are printed in color. {learn more}
